July Performances - Cave Creek and Chicago
Written by Matt Moran on June 22, 2008 – 1:02 pm -I’ll be playing in the wine bar at Cave Creek Coffee Company (C4) on July 12, 2008 - 7:00pm - 9:30pm, or so. Then, later that week, I fly to play house concert in Chicago, on July 19th.
C4’s wine bar is not really the best venue for me - as a songwriter. Songwriters need to have a captured audience - a listening venue - but in this context, I am primarily background noise for the diners. Typically, such venues are more for the cover musician/performer. My covers are so obscure, most people would believe they were originals anyways
However, I love C4 and do appreciate the opportunity. If you are in Arizona and want a great dining experience - great food, wine, and ambience, come on out. Listen to a song or two as well.
The House Concert, on the other hand, is very much the songwriter’s dream. A listening event, where the songs and the writer (ME) are the focus. My friend’s Ray & Andrea booked me as part of their birthday bash - so it will be me for the first hour and fifteen minutes - and then we move to the party. I get to be both entertainer and guest and plan on having CD’s, T-shirts, and a few other items to help build a fanbase.
If you are in Chicago, and not a friend of Ray and Andrea’s - but think you might like to attend this show, contact me directly. I’ll see what can be worked out.
