Writing – articles, books, and marketing copy
My heroes have always been writers. Really, growing up, the ability to craft a phrase, a paragraph, a page, a book – those were and still are remarkable qualities.
I have, gracioiusly, had the pleasure of seeing my articles in a number of publications – both online and in print – and getting paid for them (always a plus).
In 2004 I self-published a book, The IT Career Builder’s Toolkit and sold it via Paypal on my own private website. Later that year it was purchased by a woman in San Francisco, who turned out to be Mary Beth Ray, an Executive Editor with Cisco Press. She contacted me and said, “You are a good writer.” That phrase literally brought tears to my eyes.
I have this opinion that most writers have a strange confidence issue. We believe we have something to say but are shockked as hell when someone actually reads and enjoys it.
In 2005, The IT Career Builder’s Toolkit: Your Complete Guide to Building Your Technology Career In Any Economy (see Amazon Link below) was published under the Cisco Press imprint. I am currently slated to write two e-books for the same publisher and just found out that another book of mine – entirely different genre and focus – will be published in the Spring of 2008.
